Brad Pitt is one Hollywood acting giant who carries an equally large portfolio of charitable, eco-friendly and humanitarian accomplishments. Since he partnered up and made babies with actress Angelina Jolie he’s become the quintessential renaissance man. Dabbling in Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance, growing grapes and turning them into wine at the celebrity couple’s private estate in the south of France, acting, and raising six young children with Angie, he has his hands into a healthy smattering of everything. He even has been busy getting involved with researching sustainable housing and has been getting involved with the architectural designs of new projects and building.
While E! Online chose to promote the very real fact that his youngest children parented by Jolie are both 4 years old already in a new article published on Apr. 22, 2013, many tabloid media outlets still fail to grasp exactly how long Brangelina have been co-parenting and doing good deeds. And, actually the entertainment news source dropped the ball a little bit with their tabloid journalism for failing to spin articles about the Hollywood movie star and his family in a way that was green.
Why? Because Monday, April 22, 2013 was Earth Day. It’s a holiday where green people come together to discuss and celebrate the planet with one another in an environmentally responsible way. To that end, here’s some fast facts about the man most men like and most women want to kiss. Because after all, there is nothing more Americans can agree upon than they love actor Brad Pitt. Yes, he is an award-winning film actor and producer, but still — the man is a heck of a role model for other Hollywood stars when it comes to being a green celebrity.
For example, back in 2010, Pitt was a leader in Global Green USA’s Holy Cross Project, where supporters insisted on sustainable redevelopment in New Orléans following Hurricane Katrina. He is helping to build Holy Cross as an affordable-housing project with advanced architectural and Eco-friendly features that will help the structures to withstand hurricanes and flooding. According CNN, he said, “These houses here have exceeded my expectations.”
Last March, Pitt and his wife, Angelina Jolie, made plans to build an eco-friendly amusement park at their château in the South of France, according to PSFK. The couple have six children, so the amusement park will not go to waste. The park will boast solar panels and reusable water technology. The couple made the plans because they were having trouble with security concerns at public amusement parks.
As a couple, they founded the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation in 2009. This is a global organization committed to preventing negative environmental changes. The organization helps impoverished rural villagers and local governments to ease food insecurities and increase access to basic primary healthcare and education.
His bio details are fairly modest.
Pitt was born in 1963 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He studied Journalism at the University of Missouri, dropping out just two credits shy of a college degree. He headed to Hollywood and worked at various odd jobs, including the infamous Chicken Suit job for an El Pollo Loco restaurant. His big break came in 1991 when he made steamy film history in Thelma and Louise.
He has won a Golden Globe award and owns a production company called Plan B Entertainment. His company produced The Departed, which won the 2007 Academy Award winner for Best Picture. Plan B also produced the HBO drama “The Paper”, according to the Chicago Tribune.
And scandals have plagued the star — mixed with happy rumors that indicate the star celeb is finally with the love of his life and truly may be happy. Pitt and his first wife, actress Jennifer Anniston have no children — something that his fans could never understand why. But after meeting Angelina and working with her on the “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” project it became apparent that Aniston had been very interested in maintaining her lifestyle and career while he simply wanted to be a dad and a more socially involved guy.
Now, he and Angelina Jolie have six children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne. There are rumors of a seventh child on the way.
While that might be good news to many, giving this remarkable baby daddy applause along the way for his efforts as an environmentally responsible humanitarian seems much-needed this special Earth Day. As such, we duly nominate him to become an ambassador for the holiday.
E! Online? Your reporters really should have talked about Brad and Angie’s latest eco-friendly adventures. Seriously. Although let it be known that we did love seeing the new pics of the kiddies.
