Brad Pitt quit smoking pot and realized wife Jennifer Aniston was boring

Brad Pitt quit smoking pot and realized wife Jennifer Aniston was boring. Holy cow, Batman… what a headline for a celebrity gossip story! But it is all true, every word of it. Almost. The famous actor said he had to quit smoking pot because he was turning into a donut. Once he came down from living his life on the couch, he realized that his life with his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston was less than emotionally satisfying. Actually, the exact word he used to describe their marriage was, “Dull”. But what he was really trying to communicate to the press was living a self-absorbed life gets really boring.

Brad Pitt quit smoking pot and realized wife Jennifer Aniston was boring Very few men in America would ever disparage either donuts or Jennifer Aniston (especially in the same casual conversation), but that is exactly what Brad Pitt did when he told a reporter about why he divorced his wife and now is thinking about marrying his new sweetheart Angelina Jolie. When he was married to Jen, all he wanted to do was start a large family. She wanted to focus on her career and spent most of her days as she has continued to do for the bulk of the last 10 years. She drinks, she smokes pot, she works out, and she spends her days off either vacationing and working on her tan at the beach or visiting spas when she’s staying in the city.

Fox News, the mainstream media source, reported on Brad Pitt’s revelation. They say the event that changed Brad’s mind about wanting to continue to live the way he was with Jen (as a self-indulgent Hollywood celeb) was his awakening point as a humanitarian. They shared his inspirational tale about his wake up call, saying:

“After a life-changing trip to Casablanca, Morocco, “where I saw poverty to an extreme I had never witnessed before,” Pitt quit smoking weed. “I just quit. I stopped grass then — I mean, pretty much — and decided to get off the couch,” he tells the magazine.

But in the days before the “general” , OK Magazine shared the following strange news from the Hollywood actor.

“I spent the ’90s trying to hide out, trying to duck the full celebrity cacophony. I started to get sick of myself sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out. It started feeling pathetic [living the celebrity stoner lifestyle with Jennifer Aniston]…”

Those were his words of wisdom he shared with Parade back in September of 2011.

Pitt further revealed, “It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life but I wasn’t living an interesting life myself. I think that my marriage [to Jennifer] had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t.”

When he said that, he opened himself to a world of criticism from Jennifer Aniston’s fans (and even his own friends) for saying something so unflattering about his ex. But, in his defense, he really was revealing far more about himself and his own personal growth than he was about her. After all, if her lifestyle was wrong for her the same way it was for him, she would have changed it.

Bottom line, she still hasn’t. Jennifer Aniston is, like it or not, very happy and comfortable with her laid back lifestyle. She has tons of celebrity friends, she is incredibly rich, she’s over forty and looks even better now than she did when she was twenty. She also knows how to work the sweet and innocent but sex and flirtatious girl next door character when she is speaking in public that she mastered pretending to be when she was an actress on Friends.

So, while no one thinks Jen is totally evil, she is not the most famous humanitarian or recognized as a rocket scientist. She’s nice in public, she’s got a rockin’ hot body that lots of Hollywood men have been able to have a great deal of fun playing with, but Brad Pitt seems to have reached a point in his life when he was with her that he simply outgrew her socially and emotionally. Now, he’s happy living with a girl who might be a little too skinny but is exciting intellectually (rather than just physically) to be with; he’s also been able to share the joys of raising kids with a partner who appreciates what it means to have kids even more so that he originally did. All this, and his lifestyle is healthier because while he still might smoke weed occasionally, he is by no means a celebrity stoner couch surfer.

To that end, even the writers over at OK Magazine cut him a little bit of slack for telling people the number one reason why he quit smoking pot and left his wide. They had this to say:

“Although that interview got him into a little bit of trouble — he apologized for pretty much calling Jennifer “dull” — we respect Brad for opening up about his past and his plans for the future.”

We’d also like to add congratulations to Justin Theroux for being willing to commit to Jennifer Aniston. She’s a nice girl who is herself starting to mature a bit (especially in the last three years) since she’s had her own humanitarian awakening moments. She’s made a film to promote breast cancer awareness, is doing far more for St. Jude Children’s Hospital than she ever did, and she’s spent more time and money helping support children at a Mexican orphanage. She even showed up to help man the phones for George Clooney when he organized a telethon to help the impoverished residents of the island nation of Haiti when it was hit by devastating earthquakes.

The lessons here, following the history of these star celebs, are fairly simple ones. Like gravitates toward like. When Brad was a party boy who simply cared about his sex life and his public image as the world’s most gorgeous couple, he married Jen. Once he realized that he could use his star power more wisely, he gravitated towards Angie. The tragedy is he did not break off his relationship with Jennifer amicably before getting involved in a new romance — but the blessing is that he has moved on to become more of who he was meant to be all along. Quite simply, without Jennifer Aniston (or continuing to be the poster boy toy that represents the high life), Brad Pitt is a better man.

Does he ever smoke pot socially or as medical marijuana for relaxation? Yeah. But he’s off the couch and doing great things as a green celebrity now and as his empathetic connection with people in third world countries increase, he’s becoming a world-famous humanitarian… no longer known simply for being the world’s most handsome man or arm candy for Aniston.
